Considering a Cheap RC Plane

Considering a Cheap RC Plane
(All links open new windows)

If it's your first model, then a
cheap RC plane

may be your best bet for several good reasons:

1) Don't spend a lot of money at first, just in case it turns out that you don't like the sport after all.

2) Less pressure and stress while learning to assemble it and especially when flying your RC model plane for the first time.

3) Simpler transmitter controls that take much less time to master and allow you to concentrate on just having fun in a hurry. In fact, if you decide to go with a really
all you need to do is plug in the batteries and squeeze the trigger...what could be simpler?

Now, while I've just mentioned some valid points for not spending much money on your first plane, here's a strong reason to lean more towards the middle price range:

If you have any interest in the sport after the first hour or so and continue flying, it won't be long at all before you're bored with that cheap RC plane due to it's very limited flight controls. Then you'll need to purchase another model to satisfy your desire to go faster and farther and with more control.

So, in my humble opinion based upon my own experiences, it's actually best to spend as much as you can possibly afford on RC model planes that cost more but do more too. And in the long run, you'll definitely be more satisfied with your purchase!

RC boat info

RC Boat Information and Reviews
(All links open new windows)

Float your toy
RC boat

in the bathtub, or for your gas boats try a wide-open lake and watch the rooster tails fly! A radio control boat makes great summertime fun for the whole family because they're easy to control and don't take any special skills to learn.

Imagine your children playing with their very own affordable mini boats, like the one on the right, in the bathtub or backyard pool and it's so safe they can't hurt themselves. You'll hear their shouts of joy as they skipper their little maritime fleet!

And for the big kids around the house, they'll get full-throttle excitement out of a
gas RC boat

on their favorite lake or pond with plenty of room to race each other. This type of sophisticated remote control boat is powered by a small gasoline motor or the more potent nitro engines for reaching incredible speeds!

RC sailboats

skim across the water and respond to your every command while being powered only by Mother Nature's gentle wind. They also have the advantage of being completely silent.

Generally regarded as a more refined RC boat, they can feature a large amount of detail due to the sails and rigging which provides a real challenge for the hobbiest who wants to build one from a kit.

There are three main types of racing hulls: three-point hydros, tunnel hulls, and V-hulls. The different types of hulls require different water conditions. Tunnel hulls and hydros run best on smooth water whereas a deep vee hull is better for choppy water.

The motors for an RC boat come in two main types: inboard and outboard and of course you can choose between either a super quiet electric or the noisier, but more powerful gas powered motors.

I'm sure you'll discover that the electric boats are more convenient to play with since they don't disturb the neighbors and usually need a smaller lake or pond. But if you do have access to a suitably large lake then by all means go for the bigger thrills of a gas RC boat!

Soar with an RC airplane

Your RC Airplane is Cleared For Take-off!
(All links open new windows)

The blue skies above invite you to fly your

RC airplane

to your heart's content. You can choose from something like the micro X-EC-Diversion below, small enough
to fit inside a briefcase, or something larger like a semi scale F-16 Fighting Falcon...complete with everything you need to race down the
runway!

One of the beauties, and advantages, of a micro RC airplane is that it's small enough to be flown indoors, making a school gym or auditorium a suitable "fly zone". These RC planes can be divided into two different
categories: indoor models with wingspans of up to 30 inches (75 cm) and
weights up to 6 ounces (180 grams), or a Park Flyer micro RC plane with spans from 30-48
inches (75 cm-120 cm) and increased weights up to 22 ounces (660 grams).

A perfect example of a micro RC plane is the IFO (Identified FlyingObject)above from Wild RC...I guarantee you've never seen or flown anythinglike it before! You can view some excellent flight videos on their site too. Note: special order item, call me for details 1-250-727-9793 Pacific

There is definitely an RC airplane to suit the flying ability of anyone. For
instance, if you're a rookie pilot then I highly recommend that you
start with one of the simple RTF (Ready-to-Fly)
RC electric planes

from Megatech. They're an all-in-one package, very easy to operate and can withstand plenty of unintentional landings!

This type of inexpensive electric RC plane has a simple 2 or 3 channel radio that makes it very easy for beginners to operate and they're built of tough plastic making them very good value. Most come fully equipped with radios, clean, quiet electric motors and affordable price tags.

If and when you're ready to step up to a
gas RC airplane

there are certainly lots to choose from. Some people prefer the full-throttle sound of the gas motors and increased size too but of course along with those comes an increased price!

For me, one of the coolest things about radio control is
imagining that I'm the pilot of the real thing because of the
truly realistic scale models we can buy like the Megatech P-51 Mustang below. While certainly not a rookie's RC plane, it's still durable
enough to give you many years of flying fun!

Note: I strongly suggest that a great way to shorten the learning curve for novice RC pilots, or even those veterans who want to upgrade to a more complex RC plane, is by simply plugging a radio control simulator
into your home computer.

The Great Planes G-3 Real Flight simulator is an excellent choice and one of the best values today. Imagine the fun you'll have "virtually" flying your RC airplane and helicopter year
round...no more waiting for summer again. Plus, when we crash while
learning to land on a simulator, there are no broken
parts to replace so they can actually be a very wise small investment!
